As Lent began the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer chose to pray with the theme of Psalm 51: A clean heart create for me, O God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me.
In this year designated by Pope Francis as the "Year of Consecrated Life", we as religious are invited to reflect on the unique histories and charisms of our congregations, to celebrate our present realities and to reach out with renewed compassion to the needs of the world around.
We cannot do this alone, but rather we realize we must come before Jesus, to let the gaze of God's love renew us. This love reveals to us our total dependence on God and our desire for clean hearts and steadfast spirits - hearts and spirits open to God in the realities and needs of the world.
Lent, a time of blessed renewal so we can wake up refreshed and wake up the world with us!
