I Profess my Love to You, my God!- Sr. Kathleen Nealon

Following is a reflection written by Sr. Kathleen a week before her Profession:

On Saturday July 26, 2008, I will profess perpetually to live the vows of Chastity, Poverty and Obedience as a Sister of the Holy Redeemer.  Sometimes when I look back on my journey, I feel a sense of awe and gratitude when I realize that God has led me to this day.  I am confident that God invites me to commit to an ever-deepening relationship, to an awareness of the greatest needs in our world, and to be a healing presence to those most in need.

The six years of temporary profession has been a time of learning and growth; my awareness has expanded, my call has been challenged and has deepened.  Although, I anticipate future challenges and possible struggles, I am excited and hopeful when I consider the future of religious life.  When I promise to live the vows of celibacy, poverty, and obedience, I am saying "yes" to love God, creation and all people, to make choices that are always mindful of the common good, to be open to God's Spirit which is ever inviting me to respond with love to those who are suffering, poor, and marginalized.  These tasks sound daunting, but I know I am not alone; the beauty of community is that we collaborate with one another, with other congregations, and so many dedicated people.

Please keep me in prayers as I profess my perpetual vows, and as I do my best to live them wholeheartedly.
